The 1.6 kb region upstream of tyrp (KhC12.469) behaves like a specific enhancer, able to drive reporter gene expression in ocellus and otolith precursors cells from neurula stage. Approximately 1.5 kb of the Ci-tyrp1/2b 5′ flanking region was PCR-amplified from genomic DNA using the primers: Ci-ptyrp1/2bF (GTAGTATAAACAAACTACCGATAACCTGC) and Ci-ptyrp1/2bR (AGAACGAAGAAATAGATGTATGCTTGG).
